Parsons grad, couture chick, Katarina Grey is a breath of fresh air. She’s younger than most of us and probably more sophisticated. I had the pleasure of viewing her second collection, Decadent Opulence (sounds pretty Eurotrash to me), at The Nomad Hotel in New York during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
Now, for those of you who don’t know I’m heavily into bridal couture, sprinkled with a bit of haute couture, now is your chance to get acquainted with yet another face of the Eurotrash brand: @NevertheBride (find me on instagram). So, seeing a couture collection during fashion week was like, the best thing I could have ever hoped for. The penthouse suite was imbued with decadence – and everyone in the crowd was either gorgeous or European, or both.
I love Katarina Grey’s attention to detail and her ability to mix softer, more feminine lines with edgy overtones. You’ll find leather and crepe de chine side-by-side in this collection. Gold applique’ dustings figured heavily as it lined motorcycle jackets, leather belts and embroidered leggings. Her colour palette was most regal and could carry any woman into the night. There is always a bit of masquerade in Katarina Grey’s aesthetic – and that is what being haute is all about. Take off your bras, slide into her chiffon and go play.
